Entertainment, Production and One Man Band
Some History
Marc Chauvette was born and raised in Watertown, N.Y. He started working the bar and nightclub circuit in 1976 at the age of 17. His first paying gig was at a biker bar in Watertown NY (then known as Jammer's Tavern) with his brother Robin Davis where he played keyboards, guitar, lead vocals, and wrote original music for the popular Upstate N.Y. group "Wirlwind".
During this period, he turned down an audition invitation from Tony DeLauro in NYC as a guitarist with "the king of the twist" Chubby Checker, due to loyalty issues and obligations.
He later joined up with the 8-piece horn band "Contraband" and toured Florida with the group in the late 1970's. While with "Wirlwind" and "Contraband" he shared the stage with such other acts as "Blue Oyster Cult", "Chubby Checker", "Benny Mardones", and "Leslie West" of "Mountain". "Contraband" returned to upstate NY in 1981 where the group disbanded, and a new "Wirlwind" band was formed. Wirwind disbanded in 1989.
Marc became interested in computer-generated electronic music composition as a hobby. He later teamed up with Bob Watts, a legendary Northern New Yorker who worked with "The South Shore Road Band" and "Ed Wool and the Nomads." They formed "Chauvette and Watts" who would later become a staple in resort entertainment in the Thousand Islands in upstate N.Y. for nearly 15 years at Bonnie Castle Resort, Pine Tree Point Resort, The Riveredge Resort, the Edgewood Resort and others.
It was there that he would first meet "The Scintas", who were already legends in the Alex Bay region. At this time, Frankie Scinta told Chauvette "If we ever make it big in this business, we're going to give you a call." Marc was flattered but thought nothing would ever become of that. Chauvette was asked to join up with "The Scintas" in Las Vegas, Nevada in December of 2000.
In March of 2005, Chauvette caught up with Michael Mustizer, an aspiring film director/producer from the East coast. Chauvette, hoping to land a movie composing/scoring deal, agreed to score the orchestral music for a full-length action/ adventure feature called "The Coldest Winter." He spent an entire year with trial and error mixes and re-writes. Finally in January of 2006, the film was released to be viewed at several indie film festivals and would pick up the Hollywood DV Film Festival's "Best Action/Adventure Feature Film" award, and the Fargo Fantastic Film Festival's "Best Action/Adventure Feature Film" award as well. A shorter edit of the film would re-surface later as "Dead Of Ardennes."
Chauvette was also asked during this year to "rough compose" 2 tracks for consideration by "Uncle Kracker", a pop artist, who at the time was trying to break into the "Modern Country" genre. . The tracks however were never used, and Chauvette plays them at nightly shows.
In 2006, several studio productions were taking place for several Vegas projects including promo tracks for Captain Morgan, The Sirens of Treasure Island, and a 15-minute full production for the Farrington Entertainment Productions Group that consisted of several ethnic drum pieces for a major WalMart Corporate convention.
Also in the works in 2007 were tracks for the "HARPO Sounds" catalog in Chicago via The Music Kitchen located in Bakersfield, CA. Chauvette's instrumental composition "Osia Con Intensita" was added recently to the catalog for future production considerations.
Chauvette is currently in his own studio composing works for his new project "702," a "power-pop" compilation of songs with ideas from a journal kept about moving from a small-town suburb to "Sin City".
In 2009, Marc re-located and spent the summer months back near his hometown of Watertown, N.Y. and developed a circulation of 29 taverns and resorts in the Thousand Islands as a solo performer. He also played for several different acts in the Las Vegas area during 2009 including Hammond organ for the Dianne Kallay Blues Band, and keyboards & guitar for Leon Gillian (former vocalist for The Platters).
Chauvette has since re-located once again to the Las Vegas area and is currently back onstage with "The Scintas" as a utility mucician as a bass guitarist, guitarist and keyboard player at the "D Casino" off Fremont Street (formerly Fitzgerald's) in downtown Las Vegas.
